1. Select the Appropriate Oil

2. Bearing Should Be Clean

. Grease vs. Oil: If the bearing has been designed for grease use, a grease guns shall be fitted instead.
4. Quantity
. Over- lubrication is to be avoided: Only enough oil should be used to wet the surfaces without drowning the bearing, such would gather dirt thus reducing efficiency.
5. Regular Maintenance
. Check levels: The level and quality of oil are checked from time to time especially in places with a lot of activity.
. Replace when appropriate: Oil will be replaced as recommended by a manufacturer or if dirt and discoloration appears.
6. Safety Precautions
. Ventilation: Use of solvents or oils should be with good ventilation to prevent inhalation of the vapors.
. Protective Gear: In case of splashes or coming in contact with the skin, it is recommended to wear gloves and goggles.
